Today is officially the first day of fall...
As expected, my tree friends are happy and excited. I know how Miss Goldie is. She wants to be the prettiest tree in the woods. While a proud and protective Mister Orange, who guards his emotions as tightly as he guards his girlfriend, is just as eager for autumn to reach its full bloom.
Although he won't admit it, Mister Orange is also a showoff. While he's not as flamboyant as his girlfriend, he too loves to flaunt his brilliant orange colors. But let’s see what the season brings. Much depends on the temperature, and also on the amount of rainfall and sunlight.
Furthermore, this summer's news breaking invasion of a destructive swarm of predatory lantern flies, which struck the tree world in New York State like a plague, hasn't made life easier for my friends.
I'm hoping for the best, however. This being a glorious autumn for Miss Goldie and Mister Orange.
