"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up
with wings like eagles they shall run and not be weary they shall walk and not faint."
Isaiah 40:31 ESV
War is exhausting...
with wings like eagles they shall run and not be weary they shall walk and not faint."
Isaiah 40:31 ESV
War is exhausting...
A soldier who is serving his country in a war zone definitely has his work cut out for him. He has to be on the alert twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week, as fighting could start at any moment.
And so it is for the soldier who is serving the Lord Jesus. As the holy Bible makes clear, those who belong to the body of Christ, do not wrestle against our fellow human beings. However, we do wage a spiritual war against the devil and his demon soldiers, who like a pack of vicious wolves, seek to "steal, and kill, and destroy," while oftentimes operating from an unseen realm.
And this includes the work of demonic entities who provoke others to hate and hurt those who are the followers of Jesus. In fact, I face this on an almost daily basis. It's true! There are those who for whatever reasons, despise me. They will actually devote much of their time and energy accusing and badmouthing me in order to damage my testimony.
Yet it befuddles me to be attacked so consistently and with such intensity by people whom I don't even know personally, and have never interacted with. Jesus encountered this, as well.
For in the Scriptures the Lord himself said, "If the world hates you, know that it hated me before it hated you" (John 15:18). While in another Scripture it states, "Don't be surprised, my brethren, if the world hates you" (1 John 3:13).
All told, the spiritual battles a follower of the Lord must deal with at any given time, are real. And they can wear down even the strongest of God's warriors, and I'm definitely not at that level. So who am I to expect an easy path?
But as the word of God says, "For with God nothing is impossible" (Luke 1:37). And, "I can do all things through Christ who gives me the strength" (Philippians 4:13).
Therefore, I must rest when I need to and allow time for periods of recuperation. It's not a sin to take time off when the Lord gives the okay. And as for my current feeling of exhaustion, I need to wait patiently upon the Lord and allow Him to direct my path.
