"Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep."

Romans 12:15 ESV
I've no doubt that on this day many tears are being shed...
It's the twenty-fourth anniversary of the attack by ruthless terrorists who deliberately flew hijacked jetliners into what was then known as the "Twin Towers." These were two high rise skyscrapers that were, at the time, a part of New York City's bustling World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan.
While at the same time, other terrorists flew a hijacked plane into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., killing many. And yet a third hijacked jetliner ended up crashing in a field in a remote area of Pennsylvania, after some brave passengers tried to fight off the hijackers for control of their plane. And in this incident, as with the other two, all the passengers, along with the plane's crew and the hijackers, perished.
Therefore, today is a day for mourning and remembering. And as I have been doing every year since, I will set aside whatever time I could, to join in this period of collective grieving and reflecting.
Although I now work as a "mobility assistant" in the mornings, I will try to make available as much time as possible for prayer. While my job consists in part of helping fellow prisoners who have a handicap navigate through the facility's grounds, I will still have enough time to return to my own cell to seek the Lord's face on behalf of those who grieve. Also, to pray for those who continue to recover from their 9/11 related injuries.
I know, as well, that many of the men in our Christian fellowship group here at the prison are doing the same. We're not indifferent to the suffering of the many thousands worldwide who have been affected by this event. As members of the body of Christ, we cry when others cry. We sorrow when others sorrow.
May God bless America. May He bless all the nations of the world.
