Yesterday, I shared how the Lord seems to be sending other prisoners to me to minister to them with God's love…
September has been a busy month in this respect.
Last week, especially, I was overwhelmed by men who were asking for prayer about their various situations. In one instance a man learned that his younger brother was recently arrested for committing a robbery. He was very upset that his younger brother was wasting his life and was now following his older brother's footsteps. He was frustrated because there is no way for him to sit down and talk with his younger brother and reason with him.
Other prisoners have various family members who have taken ill. It is a big struggle for each one as they try to cope with their problems. They cannot be there for their families. They cannot visit sick relatives. It's a horribly helpless feeling.
Nevertheless, I always try to assure each man that his situation is not as hopeless as it seems. For as the Bible says, “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27). Through each difficult circumstance I assure them that the Lord can work things out. I explain that faith is required.
We prisoners suffer a lot in this place. And of course most of our suffering is by our own foolish actions, and many bad choices. Yet in the midst of all this, the Lord Jesus is here for us.
