In these past several days, as the time draws near to the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah...
...I am getting an ever-increasing sense of foreboding urgency. In fact, in the past week I've been sharing this in letters to some of my friends. I wrote to one friend in New York City, Chuck, encouraging him not to delay any longer in sharing with others the spiritual messages that God has given to him. Both in a letter and a phone conversation, I urged Chuck to do whatever Christ has called him to do, and to do it quickly. Then, early this morning during my quiet time with the Lord, God increased my sense of urgency by putting the following message into my heart:
It is time now. The hour is late. The world is in desperate need of a message of hope. Our foundations as a nation are cracking, and one day, perhaps soon, people will be hungry for answers. They will be afraid, for the world's systems and even the planet itself will be in a state of upheaval. And many will wake up and realize that Christ is their Rock and the Anchor of their soul.
Remember that we are entering into a period of urgency. So be ready and be filled with the Spirit of God. He is the Spirit of Wisdom and Counsel. Through Christ, we can do all things. Through Christ, we can do exploits. But we must be ready, and our hearts must be still. An army is a professional fighting force. But if their equipment is not in place when the battle begins, all their skills and manpower are worthless. Put everything into place now. Be ready to be used of God.
