"God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about
you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.
Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven."
Matthew 5:11-12 NLT.
In my previous journal entry, I wrote on how the Lord is teaching me to love my enemies...
you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.
Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven."
Matthew 5:11-12 NLT.
In my previous journal entry, I wrote on how the Lord is teaching me to love my enemies...
How I should be merciful to them, and pray for them, just as the Lord himself did with me when I was a lost soul who was living in open rebellion towards Him.
In years past, I hated God. I was convinced He hated me as well. And in my stupidity, I was even involved in Satan worship, where I unwittingly opened myself up to demonic control. Yet had it not been for God's mercy, I would later realize, that I would probably be in Hell right now.
So as I pondered these things, it dawned on me that I should not only be praying for my enemies but thanking them as well. Why? Because by putting up with their hatred, harassment, and absurd accusations, my heavenly Father has assured me that I will be rewarded for every unkind word that has been spoken or written against me.
Yes, I believe this to be true. In the Scriptures, God's word declares how there will be rewards awaiting those who get bad-mouthed and lied about because of their faithful stand for Jesus Christ and the Gospel [see what Jesus says about this, in Matthew 5:10-12].
Wow! All those haters and troublemakers who blast away at me with cruel comments and condemnation, are really helping to bless me with rewards of jewels and crowns and accolades from the Lord himself, that will be mine for all eternity.
Therefore, what can I say to those who hate and despise me, and openly slander me? To them, I say, "Thank you!"
