Jesus said to His disciples, "Go into all the world
and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation."
Mark 16:15 ESV
Ever since I first placed my faith in Messiah Jesus...
and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation."
Mark 16:15 ESV
Ever since I first placed my faith in Messiah Jesus...
...and began to grow in my love and knowledge of Him, I believe He placed it upon my heart to make it a priority to pray for the nations of the world. And for some reason known but to Him, the nation of Iceland was one of the top five on my list.
And so I began to pray for Iceland, just as God asked me to. While in time, I came across the mailing address of Lindin Ministries. They happened to operate a Christian radio station in Iceland. So I wrote a letter letting them know that a prisoner from the United States, who'd become a believer in Jesus, was praying for them. I thought they would find it encouraging.
Then, some weeks later, a letter arrived by air mail from Iceland. It was sent by a woman by the name of Melissa. She was with Lindin Ministries, a Christian radio station in Iceland. I would learn she was from the United States and was living in Iceland as a missionary. I also learned from her that the United States has a big naval base in Iceland, where she would go to share God’s Word with the sailors and airmen who were stationed there.
Then, after a while, Melissa wrote to tell me she returned to the States and was getting married. But I was not done with Iceland. In time, I learned a friend of mine was going on vacation with his wife to Iceland. So I asked if he would take some of my "Son of Hope" testimony pamphlets with him to give out to whoever wanted one, and he did.
And as time went on and the years past, I continued to pray for the people of Iceland, just as I'd been doing for other countries as well. When, several months ago, I received an unexpected book in the mail. It was from Iceland!
Puzzled, I picked up the book. It was the story of a former gang member who was once into drugs and crime, and how he repented from the dead-end lifestyle he'd been living. Ivar had spent time in prison too, but had long since become a Christian. My heart leaped for joy at the news.
Now, years later, Ivar is serving God as a preacher and an evangelist, sharing his message of salvation, deliverance, and hope. He threw out his 9mm handgun and his stockpile of OxyContin, and picked up a Bible instead.
It's true. Jesus saves. He saved me from the road to Hell and self-destruction, and He did it for Ivar as well. Nothing is too hard for God!
