"God has made a home in the heavens for the sun. It
bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding.
It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race."
Psalm 19:5

Psalm 19:5
This afternoon afforded me the opportunity to venture outdoors...
Between my work schedule, chapel activities, and the times I set aside for writing, I don't always have the amount of free time for myself as I would like. And with nothing in particular to do on this Friday afternoon, a shinning sun was all it took to lure me into the prison's huge recreation yard.
But the fresh air and sunshine were not the only reason for me to go outside. I also wanted to see my friends. And I did. I got to socialize with some of my fellow inmates, and that was nice.
However, I also got to see my beloved tree friends, Miss Goldie, and Mister Orange. Oh, my! I was so happy to see them looking so healthy and robust. They appeared well nourished for mid-spring. Their leaves were plump, and their branches looked sturdy with no unusual sagging. What more could I hope for?
Of course, the summer months will ultimately determine how Miss Goldie and Mister Orange will fare when fall arrives. An unwelcome amount of rain or an unexpected drought could change their lives, and mine too. So much depends on the weather and on what the Creator has in store for us.
Nevertheless, be it a superb summer or an unpleasant one, the trees will always be in my heart, and in my prayers. May all of nature with its forests and flowers, its birds and animals, and even its bugs rejoice in the goodness of God.
Today was a day to soak up the sun, and I did!
