and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall."

Frankly, this kind of ministry is not a favorable one with some of my fellow Christians, as they have an aversion towards those who've broken the law. And I understand this. Not everyone is called to do this kind of outreach, with its unique challenges and problems.
I believe one has to possess a genuine love for those who have committed crimes, to see them as human beings in need of redemption. After all, it's the job of the authorities to punish offenders. While it's the role of a minister to give convicts the gospel so they can be saved.
As someone who has now spent forty-seven years in prison, and has since become a follower of the Lord Jesus for more than thirty of those years, anyone wanting to go into prison ministry must have strong faith, as well as a deep dedication to the work. And this is especially true because, as with anything the Lord calls us to do, opposition will come. In fact, it may even come from one's own family, or from church members.
Nevertheless, when it comes to ministering to convicted felons and lawbreakers, the individual must be fully convinced that this is their calling. And if it is, the Lord will protect them. They will go forth in the power and wisdom of the Holy Spirit to reach the lost. And for their efforts, they will have earned a crown. Amen!
