After my new friend, Ricky, gave me a little Gideons Pocket Testament as a gift back in late 1987…
…and encouraged me to read the Psalms, which the Lord used to soften my heart, the Gideons International organization has been dear to me. I often pray for them. I thank God for their faithfulness in getting God's word to the furthest parts of the world. Their placing of Bibles in motels, jails, and prisons, and on military bases are only some of their work.
In any event, today I gave a very brief version of my testimony as well as some words of encouragement to a man who recorded everything I said. He is going to share this during the Gideons International convention in Nashville this summer. He will also be showing portions of the SON OF SAM/SON OF HOPE video to everyone present. It was the staff at the Gideons Headquarters who asked me to do this, and I'm very thankful they chose my testimony to present at the convention. People will be coming from all over the world.
I love to encourage my fellow Christians. Thus, part of the message that I'm giving to the brethren attending the July event is as follows:

| “There is a spiritually active and vibrant church behind prison walls all over the world. Correctional facilities are wide open mission fields with men and women who are hungry for God, who are tired of sin and crime, and who want redemption. They're broken people who long to be made whole.” |
