By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

John 13:35
Today several of the Christian brothers and I were talking about the Lord and discussing His Word...
We were simply hanging out in the cellblock, because it was pouring rain and none of us were going to the yard in this kind of weather. Each of us had a word to share to encourage one another. What the Lord gave me was John 13:34-35.
I said that our love for one another and the way we publicly demonstrate God’s mercy, compassion, and kindness... this will make the best witness to the reality of the Gospel. By living in this love, we are actually displaying to the world, God's true nature. His “true nature” is love. "He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love" (1 John 4:8).
We all agreed that, for the most part, much of the "world" does not get to see God's true nature and character displayed. One by one, we admitted that each of us is probably guilty at times of not faithfully demonstrating the love of God to this lost generation. We prayed and asked the Lord's help in doing better in showing more love to our brethren and to encourage and respect one another.
The world sees so much "religion," but they need to see Christians having a loving and joyous relationship with their Lord, and with each other. I pray that I, and my dear brothers, will be more faithful than ever in showing those around us the true heart of Jesus.
