He wants you to live in a state of continuous anger and agitation because he knows that anger, anxiety, and restlessness will kill you.
Bitterness is the sour fruit the devil wants to produce in your life. He loves torturing you with guilt about your past, and even about your present failings. He tries these things with me all the time, and I am learning so much these days from God's word and from my own experiences.
However, the Bible says that Jesus Christ is Light and Love. He has joy to give you and I. Only this joy and peace can remove all the bitter poisons the enemy has put in us.
Christ says in His word: "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" (John 14:27).
Also, "These things I have spoken unto you, that My joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full" (John 15:11). These passages were a big help to me today!
