"Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold of eternal life as you were called,
and have confessed a good confession in the presence of many witnesses."

Recently, I was watching a documentary on the History Channel about World War 2...
...and on Germany's devastating bombing raids on the City of London, England. The raids were causing massive damage, and many lives were being lost. Thus, out of fear, people would run into the city's underground subway system to use it as something of a fallout shelter to escape being harmed.
So with millions of Britain's citizens living in fear, as bombs struck other areas of the country as well, a brazen and strong-willed Winston Churchill, the then Prime Minister of the nation, rose up to rally the populace with the words, "Never Give Up! Never Stop Fighting!"
With his loud, gravelly voice, he would speak to the people through both radio and television, urging them with what had now become the nation's victory slogan. "Never give up! Never stop fighting!"
And as the bombs continued to fall, Churchill continued to shout. And it worked. The residents of London and the entire nation's populace developed a level of strong determination to endure to the war's end, and to never lose hope, nor accept defeat.
Watching this made me think of the apostle Paul's words as recorded in the Scriptures. As a man who was openly persecuted for his faith in Messiah Jesus, he had borne the brunt of the devil's wrath and caught many a beating as a result. Thus, his admonition to "Fight the good fight of faith," was to be his rallying cry to the church.
To the Lord's followers, Paul's message is clear: "Fight the good fight of faith!" That's our slogan. That's our rallying cry. "Fight the good fight of faith! Never give up on the Lord. Never quit! Endure to the end."
To this, I must humbly say, "Yes, Lord! I will serve you to the end. No quitting! No turning back, even when life gets hard, and the trials and spiritual battles never seem to end. I'm pressing on to the finish line that awaits me in glory!"
May the apostle Paul's words never stop resonating in my heart. "Fight the good fight of faith!"
