"To everything there is a season, and a time
for every purpose under the heaven."
Ecclesiastes 3:1 KJV
For a while now, I've been sensing that beginning this year things are going to be different...
for every purpose under the heaven."
Ecclesiastes 3:1 KJV
For a while now, I've been sensing that beginning this year things are going to be different...
More specifically, things are going to be different for my nation. I don't know to what extent. But there will be changes within the economy and the environment, and also in the realm of faith, and in other ways as well.
While some of these changes will be for the better, some may be for the worse. But change is definitely in the wind. In our fast-paced world of breaking news and instantaneous messaging, our lives could change in an instant, and so could an entire nation.
And while only God knows our individual futures, He has declared in the Scriptures that a day of judgment awaits all mankind. Both the Old and New Testaments attest to this truth.
In the 96th Psalm, it states that the Lord is "coming to judge the earth." See Psalm 96:13. While in the New Testament, the Lord Jesus himself provides humanity with a list of signs to indicate that His return is getting near. See Matthew chapter twenty-four in its entirety. And His message is again repeated in the gospel accounts of Mark and Luke.
And if this is true, could it be that much of what is going on in the world today is preparing us for this future day of judgment? I believe it is. In the recorded words of Messiah Jesus, He was quoted as saying, "It will spring upon humanity like a trap"(Luke 21:34-36).
But even with a day of judgment coming, the Lord offers to us His gracious mercy and provides for us a way of escape. As the Bible declares, "For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13).
As for me, I long for the day when I will meet my Maker face to face. What a glorious day that will be!
