Toni was a student with Teen Challenge when I first met her...
My friend Mike brought her on a visit. She'd been with Teen Challenge for a while, where she was receiving help and encouragement with navigating through the difficulties of transitioning from adolescence to adulthood. I was deeply impressed by her faith in Christ, and her love and devotion
to Him.
Here are some excerpts from a letter I sent to her last year:
to Him.
Here are some excerpts from a letter I sent to her last year:
"Casting all your care upon the Lord, because He cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7 Hi, Toni! I hope this letter finds you and your family doing well. I was both impressed and encouraged by your vision and dream of one day becoming a prison chaplain. And if this is what the Lord has placed upon your heart, then I would say, "Go for it! If it's of the Lord's will, it will indeed come to pass." But let me remind you that you still have a lot of molding and crafting to do. There's still much character building that remains. So be patient with yourself, and with the Lord too. He is never in a rush. Toni, it was a blessing to meet you. As you know, I got "saved" in prison. So I'm not familiar with all that goes on with churches on the outside. But what I do know is that Jesus is always at work behind prison walls and fences. He's on the hunt for souls to save. And I'm glad He found me. Becoming a follower of the Lord Jesus is a blessing in itself. And I cannot wait to see Him face to face. Talk about a glorious moment! To see the Lord with my own eyes, and seeing His smile... Wow! Well, let me get this into the mail. Please give your parents my greetings... You're in my prayers, and you're more than welcome to write any time. Keep the faith... Your brother in Christ, David. D.B. |
Note: Toni is doing well, and she remains "on fire" for Jesus!
