Today I had to provide a tube full of blood for the now required by law DNA test...
It was quick and simple. The medical technician in the infirmary drew an ounce or so of blood, and into the tube it went. This sample will be on file forever to be used by various law enforcement agencies who are looking into old cases.
I was not singled out for this, as there would be no reason to do so. The fact is, almost every prison inmate will have to provide a sample, and many already have. Taking blood is now just about as routine as taking fingerprints.
Submitting to the mandatory DNA test was no big deal. Eventually, I believe, this practice of taking blood samples for law enforcement use will be the way of life in America. People applying for jobs, registering for college or joining the armed forces will all eventually have to do this.
If George Orwell were still alive, he would definitely say, "I told you so!" The government ("Big Brother") has now even begun to keep files on the genetic codes of its citizens.
