The past four weeks have been very difficult...
Intense trials of the spiritual and mental kind. I have felt myself at the breaking point quite often, getting "pressed out of measure" and pushed in from all sides.
This has been rough, hard, spiritual warfare. There is nothing I can do but continue to go through the storms and trials, trusting in the Lord and pressing towards the mark of the high calling in Christ, and operating in God's divine power. At this time my own strength has long since ceased. It was never sufficient anyhow.
I cannot explain what has been going on other than, as I have said, it is very intense warfare in the spiritual realm. I can actually feel the intense mental and emotional pressure from it, and it is painful.
The other day the warfare was so intense in the cellblock I live in, with some of the men seemingly going wild and screaming for no reason, that another Christian brother and friend also said he felt "so overwhelmed."
I told him, "Rick, we have to pray!" We then got together. We confirmed that this was not in our own imaginations, but that we could sense and feel something demonic attacking us and the other handful of Christians around us.
Both of our spirits were in distress and Rick went to his cell to get the anointing oil. We both laid hands on each other and prayed one for another right in the middle of the living quarters.
In the name of Jesus the Messiah, we came against any and all spirits of confusion, chaos, mental oppression, witchcraft and Santeria, and any and all magical enchantments that have been made or are being made against this prison, the Christians here, our chaplain, and even against the hostile forces which may come up against the prison's administrative staff.
In the name of Jesus, we also asked the Lord to rebuke the spirits of hatred and racism which seem to be flooding this place of late. We pled the blood of Jesus to cover Sullivan Correctional Facility.
A part of this prayer went like this: "Lord Jesus, I ask you to bless, cover and protect everyone in this prison. Please give your church, which is behind these walls, divine strength to endure, to survive and to grow." I know that He answers prayer, and God’s grace is always more than sufficient to meet my needs.
I believe something good must be ahead for me and for God's people. For surely the devil has been angry and seems to be trying to thwart something which is coming, something that will bring glory to God. Ephesians 6:10-18. Amen!
