God always has a word of encouragement for me...
...even in this situation. He never fails to send a "good report" from a faraway place. No wonder the Bible says, "Happy are the people whose God is the Lord" (Psalm 144:15) and "Happy is he that has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord" (Psalm 146:5).
Today I received a letter from a person in a north-western state whom I have been witnessing to via the mail for about eight months. They stumbled across my testimony and, like many others, said they felt "compelled" to write.
Of course, I know that it was the Holy Spirit working behind the scenes. But in any event, their life was full of struggles, especially with alcohol and cocaine. And they began to share their problems with me, both of us being total strangers.
The good report came today. This person gave their life to Christ. I will quote from parts of their 12/14 letter because their own words say it all:

The good report came today. This person gave their life to Christ. I will quote from parts of their 12/14 letter because their own words say it all:
| "David... last night at about 4 AM, I finally, finally, completely surrendered! Yes, David, I was driven to my knees. I have truly committed my life to Jesus Christ! "Last year at this time I was doing cocaine. But I gave Jesus my broken life, my broken spirit, my woes, my sorrows, my talents... I just gave it all up to Him last night. "Living for Christ requires so much. Living without Christ is misery. And miserable I have been. My life is falling apart, but that's what drove me to my knees... I do have faith. God is with me. I believe in His love." |
I thank God for the victory, for this was all His doing. I am continuing to write to "T" encouraging them to keep praying, reading the Bible, and I urged them to find a good "Bible believing" church where they can be nurtured in the faith.
