Rejoice with them that rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

My desire, is to be a caring and loving Christian…
...who can properly demonstrate and give out God's love. I want to have a kind word for people, a smile, and a helping hand. I'm sure that every other Christian on this planet also desires the same.
And in this prison environment, the need to touch others with the love of God is so essential. For prison, by its very nature, is a place of pain. There are things which a man experiences that, in this setting, get amplified many more times than if the same things were to happen to a person who is on the outside, who has the freedom to come and go and travel about and be with other family members.
And one of these exceptionally difficult times is when prisoner gets word that a family member of his has just died, especially if it is a parent. Yesterday, this is exactly what happened to a precious Christian brother and friend of mine, Jose (not his real name). He was informed on Sunday evening that his mother passed away. Her death was sudden and unexpected.
Jose is thirty-five years old. He was very close to his mom. He was grieving so intensely that I thought he might become unconscious. All the brothers rallied around Jose to pray with him. Some of us wept. I personally felt some of his pain as I still grieve for my own mother.
Jose lives in the same cellblock as me. I will make sure that I spend extra time with him. He's a hurting man who's deeply loved by all the Christians here. We will weep with him. Jose is not alone.
