Every follower of Messiah Jesus has a calling and anointing on his or her life…
…to serve Him in various ways. As members of the body of Christ, made up of both Jewish and Gentile “born again” believers, we have been given various gifts of service. While the Lord Himself tells us that we are both the "salt of the earth," and the "light of the world" (Matthew 5:13-14).
Wow! That's a big calling, and a big responsibility as well. So as I was spending time with the Lord this morning, I felt the need to remind my fellow believers of this truth, as the Lord Himself reminded me of it.
"Bloom where you are planted." I've heard this said again and again throughout my years as a disciple of Jesus. And I believe this to be good advice. Until the Lord moves me some place else, I am here to stay, and here to serve. And that's what I've been doing.
Even within the past few weeks, I am seeing that it is needful for me to be right where I am. God has His children in this prison, and I am here to help them to "walk worthy of the Lord" (Colossians 1:10), just like they're here to help me to do the same.
Likewise, as it states in the New Testament's letter from James, " But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit…" (Jude 20 NLT). We're to love and pray one for another as brothers, and to encourage each other to stay faithful to our Savior. Also, to assist each other in a variety of ways. To me that's a good and fruitful work.
