"To every thing there is a season, and a
time to every purpose under the heaven."
Ecclesiastes 3:1 KJV
It's never easy to say goodbye to someone you care about...

But that's what I and the rest of the men from our fellowship group had to do this afternoon. We had to say goodbye to our chaplain, who is also our pastor. He's retiring at the age of 74 and will no longer be working for the Department of Corrections.
Pastor Yang was with us for just under two years. He came to Shawangunk Correctional Facility after the previous prison he worked at was closed due to budget cuts. At the time, we had lost our previous chaplain to retirement. And so Pastor Yang was sent here to replace him.
Fortunately, his coming to Shawangunk was a blessing because Pastor Yang loves the Lord. He was a good Bible teacher as well as one who has the gift of encouragement. He knew how to encourage the flock to continue on in the faith, with no turning back. He led by example, and he will be missed.
But now comes the important question, who will be coming here to take his place? It's our number one concern. We're praying for a chaplain who, like Pastor Yang, will faithfully feed the flock with the word of God. That he will be a man full of compassion and faith who is serving Messiah Jesus out of love, and not for a paycheck.
May God's will be done.
