"Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you
were working for the Lord rather than for people."

were working for the Lord rather than for people."
Colossians 3:23 NLT
Well, my pastor is gone now...
The door to his office is locked and shut. But my fellow co-worker and clerk and I have begun the process of putting our former chaplain's office in order. We have to get everything as ready as possible for him. But as of today, we've no idea who it will be.
The guys from my fellowship group have been asking me if I know who our next chaplain is going to be. It's kind of funny, actually. I always give them a smile and say jokingly, "Well unless the Lord himself gives me a name, I just don't know who it will be."
Why do they think I would know something like this? I'd kid them by telling my Christian brothers, "Hey, I don't have a special hot line to Jesus. If He tells me our next chaplain's, name, I'm sure the Lord will tell you as well."
But until our new pastor walks through the door to the chapel and introduces himself, we're not going to know who it is. All we can do is continue to pray for the right person to come, and to remain in hopeful expectation as we wait.
Interestingly, after Chaplain Steve retired some years ago, our congregation had to wait about eleven months before Pastor Yang arrived. Yet in that long gap when we were without an official chaplain, we found great favor from the prison's administration. They let us run our own worship services and Bible studies.
That's how much the prison's staff trusted us. I know this was the grace of God in action, as something like this would be unheard of in most correctional facilities. But with the Lord, nothing is impossible.
